The credit calculation assumes that persons are already competent in terms of the following outcomes or areas of learning when starting to learn towards this learning programme:

This programme will be delivered in English and learners are therefore required to speak, read and write English.

Learners should be able to obtain evidence from the workplace. This requires that the learners either work in the industry or has access to the workplace to practice knowledge and skills learnt on the programme.

Learners must be motivated to learn and should be self-driven and independent.

Entry into the programme will follow standard practices of Aligned Associates and will require the following:

  • Learners apply to attend the programme.
  • Learners complete a registration form.
  • Learner must attach all Legal documents such as ID, other Certificates with registration.
  • Learner must provide Aligned Associates with a letter stating that he/she has access to the workplace

This qualification is intended to prepare a learner to become a Management Assistant. The qualification provides an opportunity to acquire a range of skills, such as being able to coordinate activities of the organization and provide professional administrative and secretarial assistance to managers, either as part of a team or individually.

The Management Assistant can also be employed as a Senior or Executive secretary, depending on experience and is the gatekeeper who promotes the professional image of the manager and the organisation.

The qualified learner will be actively engaged in becoming a well-rounded, multi-skilled individual, prepared for further, more specific study and several other career options within the Secretarial or Personal Assistant field.

A qualified learner will be able to:

Plan, organise and support department meetings and workshops.

Apply appropriate personal and interpersonal skills to a range of situations to facilitate the smooth relations between internal and external stakeholders according to organisational standards.

Apply basic knowledge of relevant administration governance, policies and procedures to manage resources effectively in the organisation.

Plan, administer and provide support services to a special project within an organisation.

Promote professional documentation by employing effective and accurate information processing and research techniques to enhance the professional image of the organization or industry.
